A Little Structure

One practical thing Brian and I have implemented into our day to day life is an easy schedule. We found it best to leave it roomy and not detailed, but to just have a general idea of what we want to do as a family each night of the week.

For example:

Monday is book night. We read a chapter in a book geared toward Brian and I, such as marriage or parenting material, and enjoy reading to Seth for awhile from his bookshelf. (Although Seth and I read everyday! 🙂 )

Tuesday is coffee date night. Brian and I each get a drink of our choice (at home), and take turns picking a conversation subject. We let Seth watch a short movie and sit in the living room with him, while we visit with each other. That’s my favorite night. 🙂

Wednesday we usually have Bible study with my family.

Thursday is game night.

Friday is movie night.

Saturday is a catch up day for work around the house.

Sunday is a day to rest and just do whatever we feel like doing.

Now that it’s summer, we might implement  a day for outside activities.

It’s good to switch it up now and then and come up with creative ideas. But the main point is that by having an idea of what you’re going to do every night, you waste less time and make quality family time a priority. This played a huge role in working on consistency and intentionality in our marriage.

Sometimes we get busy and don’t always adhere to this exact schedule, but just having it in place to follow most nights is enough to keep us on the right track.

Hope this helps you as well! 🙂
