How often are our hearts overwhelmed with one thing or another? With never ending to do’s, emotions (good or bad), and a wide variety of circumstances, it’s no wonder our hearts sometimes feel faint.
The Psalmist felt this way, and he knew exactly what to do: “From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” – Psalms 61:2 KJV
In moments when we find it hard to pray, may we still daily cry out to God: “Lead me to the rock.”
When my heart is lonely – lead me to The Rock.
When my heart is faint – lead me to The Rock.
When my heart is hurting – lead me to The Rock.
When my heart is afraid – lead me to The Rock.
When my heart is longing – lead me to The Rock.
When my heart is tempted – lead me to The Rock.
When my heart is overjoyed – lead me to The Rock.
When my heart is overwhelmed – lead me to The Rock.
For there, He will hear my cry and be to me a resting place as He has always been before. I will take refuge under the shelter of His wings! (vs. 1, 3-4)
And, safe on the Rock that is higher than I, “So will I ever sing praises to your name, as I perform my vows day after day.” – Psalms 61:8
