His Name is Jesus

This poem was written by my sister and fit well for the Easter season. Hope you enjoy it! 🙂

I was born into very lowly means.

I came to a world that did not receive Me.

I healed the sick, the blind, the lame.

But this was not my purpose; this was not why I came.

My ministry was not for wealth or fame,

but to preach and proclaim My Father’s great name.

You must repent and believe.

Take up your cross and follow Me.

Lay aside worldly ambitions and selfish plans.

Come to me; I’ll make you a new man.

Be on guard against the devil and his evil snares.

Pray at all times and on Me cast your cares.

When time is over and you stand before Me,

what will you cling to? What will be your plea?

Will you say, “I went there; I did this in Your name.”

“I have attended church from a very young age.”

“I was baptiszed, confirmed, I did good deeds.”

“I was better than some; I’m not as bad as I seem.”

Or will you fall on your knees and begin to cry?

Will you say, “I am evil and wicked; this I cannot deny.”

“I cannot bring anything, no good deeds.”

“But I cling to the cross where you met my need,

where You freed me from the bondage of sin.”

Will you say, “I trust in Him?”

“I trust what Jesus did on the cross for me.

It is by Jesus’s blood I stand redeemed!”
