Some Bible verses on the subject of God being enough:
“The young lions suffer want and hunger; but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.” Psalms 34:10
“When my soul was embittered, when I was pricked in heart, I was brutish and ignorant; I was like a beast toward you. Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” – Psalm 73:21-26
“Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man! For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.” Psalms 107:8-9
When Paul is talking about the thorn in his flesh… “Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me, But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:8-9
“And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” – Luke 11:9-13
Those last verses need a little explaining. In a similar passage, Matthew 7:11b says, “…how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” Why does this passage instead say He’ll give the Holy Spirit? In listening to a sermon by John MacArthur, he explains the beauty and generosity of this verse. God is saying that not only will He supply the things you need, but He has give you the Source of what you need. For when you need comfort, He has given the Comforter. When you need help, He has given you the Helper. When you need guidance, He’s given you the Counselor. This well will never run dry for His children. He’s given you the Source so you will have everything you need, in abundance. What gratitude and joy this passage produces!
God has given us Himself, and in our waiting, this is where we see more and more of who He is.
That in and of itself is worth the wait.
